# in between > where are the nuances in between? ## Works and information - [work](): where are the nuances in between? - [IN BETWEEN](): "In Between" is a captivating visual journey into the intricate dance of intimacy, distance, and attachment in human relationships. This project delves into the heart of what it means to connect deeply while navigating the vulnerabilities that true closeness demands. It poses thought-provoking questions: How well do we understand our own attachment styles? How much of ourselves are we willing to expose? What shadows from our past influence our present relationships? The exploration begins with candid conversations about attachment issues shared by photographed couples. Each analog portrait, captured in the intimate confines of their private spaces, reveals the subtle yet profound dynamics of closeness and distance. By intertwining documentary and staged elements, the photographer creates a rich tapestry of emotions that invites viewers to contemplate their own experiences with love and connection. Born out of personal reflection after a breakup with a partner grappling with attachment anxiety, the series sheds light on the inner conflicts that arise when fear intertwines with desire. It also features tender moments from the photographer’s current relationship with a securely attached partner, showcasing the healing power of stable love. This juxtaposition highlights how secure relationships can dismantle the walls built from past traumas, fostering trust and resilience. "In Between" beckons viewers to embark on their own journey of self-discovery, encouraging them to confront their attachment patterns and the complexities of their relationships. Through this artistic lens, the project illustrates how art can be a powerful catalyst for introspection and healing, reminding us that genuine closeness requires not just proximity but a courageous willingness to be vulnerable. In the end, it challenges us to recognize that closeness doesn’t always come from being near, and distance doesn’t always mean separation—sometimes, the most profound connections lie in the spaces in between. - [subject and object](): What if masculinity is not necessarily a conflict? Masculinity is often understood through the tension between social expectations and lived experience. Subject and Objectquestions whether this narrative still holds, or whether the contradiction it describes needs to be reconsidered. Growing up between established gender roles, digital ideals and shifting cultural counter-images, young men encounter competing ideas of what masculinity should look like. The series explores how these ideas shape self-perception and how masculinity is negotiated in relation to others, without assuming a shared experience or a fixed definition of masculine identity. Made primarily in the private living spaces of the people portrayed, the analogue photographs focus on the moment of being seen. In front of the camera, self-perception meets the gaze of another. Gestures of control, self-presentation and withdrawal may become more pronounced or begin to falter. What happens when performed masculinity becomes unstable within the photographic encounter? Does identity itself shift, or does the image through which it is perceived begin to change? The camera is not a neutral observer. It intervenes in the encounter and becomes part of the process through which identity takes shape and acquires meaning. The resulting image emerges between the person portrayed, the photographer and the cultural assumptions through which both see and are seen. Who determines what becomes visible as masculine identity? Is the man the subject of his own experience, or does he become the object of another’s interpretation? Rather than proposing an alternative image of masculinity, Subject and Object questions the conditions through which masculinity is recognised, represented and interpreted. It leaves unresolved what belongs to the person in front of the camera and what emerges through the act of looking. We, between closeness and estrangement. Mutually unfamiliar. A provoked relationship, a fleeting openness. What do you expect? Do you also carry within you the quiet desire to let go of what is expected? Just for this one moment. The moment is fragile, incomplete. What happens to us when we do not allow trust to grow, but force it into the “now”? The image as an in-between space. Time doubles. - [Fear of fear](): Fear often begins quietly, as a barely perceptible tremor beneath the surface, and spreads until reality and perception start to waver. For people with anxiety disorders, their own sensations become illusions – thoughts circle endlessly, bodily feelings distort, until only fear remains. Fear does not arise in a vacuum. It is rooted in experiences that overwhelm mind and body: trauma, sudden panic, uncontrollable trembling, or the feeling of being trapped in an endless loop. These experiences also echo on a societal level: war, violence, and economic insecurity leave traces in the collective psyche. In a world full of uncertainty, political extremes, and pandemics, the sense of losing control grows, and fear becomes a shared experience. Yet fear can also be a key to self-reflection. It forces us to pause, reassess priorities, and understand our own limits and needs more clearly. From this burden, potential emerges: fear becomes part of personal growth, enabling us to live more consciously and authentically.
